Jack’s Gallery History
The lobby space shared by the Just Us coffeehouse and the Al Whittle Theatre is home to Jack’s Gallery, which has a rotating display of pieces from local artists.
Jack’s Gallery opened on January 8, 2009 in the Acadia Cinema’s lobby, and honours the late Jack Sheriff — “professor, producer, playwright and impresario” — a memorable name associated with art and culture in the Annapolis Valley. Inspired by Shasta Grant, Kate Adams and Barbara Kaiser, and funded by Youth Challenge International, the Acadia Cinema Cooperative Ltd., and Just Us! Coffee Roasters Co-op, the gallery aims to give young and emerging visual artists of the Valley a dedicated community space for rotating exhibits in which to share and sell their work.
